Reconfiguration and Refurbishment, Dale Street, W4

Chiswick Architecture Studio were appointed to improve the relationship between the kitchen and dining area with the garden in this Victorian terraced house in Chiswick. As well as connecting better with the garden they wanted to create a unique space within the rear reception room that can be used to read whilst appreciating views out, in both good and bad weather.

Chiswick architecture Studio created 3 new and defined areas within the reception room:

Area for cooking. A new kitchen run with island unit creates a more defined cooking area

Area for eating. The dining table is now positioned against a new near full height glazed wall giving diners unobstructed views into the garden

Area for relaxing. Completely opening up the existing outrigger and providing bi-folding glazed doors continuing across the corner with a cantilevered roof that when open, removes all definition between inside and out. A continuation of the flooring material increases the sense of open space.

A new continuous rooflight provides natural light deep into the house footprint.
